Amazon's e-commerce Tax Software Platform department needs a Software Development Manager (SDM) with a strong business focus and technical acumen to grow the business of the Amazon e-commerce platform.
With thousands of discrete applications running in a distributed environment, Amazon continues to push the limit of Service Oriented Architecture. Amazon's e-commerce Platform is driving key innovations in this arena; it's our job to make sure that all these applications come together to form a platform upon which developers can build e-commerce websites. The e-commerce Platform’s engine powers global retail websites, Kindle, Enterprise partner websites and many more applications.
The successful candidate is expected to be a hands-on technical manager who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle including: design, development, documentation, testing and operations. You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment. We're looking for people who are smart and can get things done.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* 12+ years of experience, with at least 5 years managing development teams
* Experience in organizing projects and delivering quality releases on schedule
* Experience in building and leading development of complex software systems
* Good judge of top software engineering talent, and ability to grow their careers
* Ability to work well with clients and juggle competing demands, good communication skills
